WUN Research Mobility Programme

The WUN Research Mobility Programme (RMP) is an opportunity for Maastricht University PhD students or research staff in any academic discipline - in existing WUN research areas and new areas with the potential to develop a sustainable WUN collaboration - to apply for funding to visit any Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) partner university. The award aims to help facilitate research collaboration of early and mid-term career researchers leading to increased publishing, grant acquisition and training opportunities for all UM researchers
 

KNAW Van Walree grants (medicine)

Medicine students

The Academy Medical Sciences Fund makes Academy Van Walree Grants available for medical students at the Dutch university who will be giving a presentation at a foreign conference.Promising medical students, who have not yet taken their finals in medicine, can apply for a grant of EUR 1,000 maximum to attend a foreign conference. At this conference they have to present the results of the research they conducted during their research internship.

NWO Physics Valorisation Prize

The NWO Physics Valorisation Prize has been established to encourage knowledge utilisation from physics research. The prize is awarded each year to a Dutch researcher (or research group) within the field of physics who has successfully managed to make the results from his or her own research useful for society. The NWO Physics Valorisation Prize is a conferred honour and an inspiring example for others.The winner receives a payment of 250.000 euro. Of this, 235.000 euro is intended for a new research project determined by the winner with a duration of two to four years. The other 15.000 euro can be used by the winner as he or she wishes.

KNAW Hendrik Muller prijs

The Hendrik Muller Prize for Behavioural and Social Sciences is awarded every other year to a researcher or group of researchers who has made a significant or valuable contribution to the behavioural and social sciences. The prize is awarded to individual researchers or a group of researchers who are either Dutch or working in the Netherlands and active in the behavioural and social sciences, or foreign researchers in the behavioural and social sciences whose work focuses on the Netherlands.

Postdoc Prize

Professors at Dutch universities; Directors of Dutch research institutes

The National Postdoc Prize is intended for postdoc researchers and assistant professors at a Dutch university or Dutch research institute who have received their PhD no more than five years previously from a Dutch university. The Prize is alternating between Arts and Social Sciences (2018) and Science and Medicine (2019). It is allowed to nominate an UD who works less than 1 year at the respective university. It is also allowed to nominate a candidate with the UFO profile  ‘onderzoeker’ (one should include  a substantiation explaining the appointment is equal to a Postdoc/UD positions and/or an explanation about the fact the profile ‘Postdoc’ does not exists at the respective university/faculty.
 

Dutch Data Prize

Researcher

Awarded every other year (latest call: 2018) for a scientist or research group that has made an extraordinary contribution to science by making research data available for additional or new research. Researchers can nominate themselves, another researcher or a research group.

KNAW Descartes-Huygens Prijs

The prize, a grant of EUR 23,000 intended to cover the cost of a French researcher’s research residence in the Netherlands, encourages scientists and scholars to dedicate themselves to their careers. The prze is awarded to a researcher who has contributed to Franco-Dutch scientific and scholarly cooperation, has been judged outstanding by peers, enjoys international renown in humanities or social sciences, and is prepared to spend approximately six months – either consecutively or spread out over multiple visits – as a visiting researcher in the Netherlands. Preference is given to candidates who have an active career ahead of them, because the prize is intended as an investment in future collaboration.

Spinoza

The NWO Spinoza Prize is the highest award in Dutch science. Each year, NWO awards the NWO Spinoza Prizes to three or four researchers working in the Netherlands who according to international standards belong to the absolute top of science. The NWO Spinoza Laureates do outstanding and groundbreaking research, which has a large impact. They are an inspiration for young researchers.With this initiative NWO encourages top level research in the Netherlands.
 

Stevin prize

The Stevin Prize is an award for top researchers or a team of two to three researchers with international reputations. A Stevin Prize is an honorary award for what the winners have achieved in their scientific career on knowledge exchange and impact and an encouragement to continue doing excellent research resulting in knowledge exchange and impact. In essence the prize works as an impulse for scientific research and knowledge exchange and impact in the Netherlands.  The laureates each receive 2.5 million euro to spend on research and/or activities on knowledge exchange and impact.
 

Yerun researcher Mobility awards

Yerun researcher Mobility awards are competitive awards for academics and researchers form PhDs studying at YERUN universities to early career and established academics. The programme provides support for researchers to undertake up to two weeks of research at one of the other Yerun partner institutions form a different country.

Faces of Science 

KNAW member within FHML

Faces of Science is a project in which students are informed via an online system about the life and the world of a PhD student with the goal to make these students enthousiastic for science. For this project talented PhD students from a Dutch University (in his/her 1st, 2nd of 3th year) who can present his/her research in an appealing way to the target group of Faces of Science (bovenbouw vwo-leerlingen en studenten) can be nominated.
 

Heineken Young Scientist Awards

The Heineken Young Scientists Awards are intended to give talented young scientists and scholars extra encouragement. They are presented  to talented young researchers whose outstanding work sets an example for other young scientists and scholars. The prize is assigned to researchers who have received their PhD from a Dutch research institute no more than five years before the award ceremony of the Heineken Young Scientists Awards or will have received it within three months of the award ceremony.
